Emerging from the serene landscapes of North Georgia, Shakerag is an alt-country/Americana ensemble, weaving a rich tapestry of sound that flows as freely as the bend in Chattahoochee River they’re named after. Their music is a harmonious blend of traditional roots with a psychedelic twist, creating an experience that is both grounded and transcendental.

At the helm is Frankie Sparks, vocalist and guitarist whose soulful melodies are carved from the mountains of North Georgia. Sparks, deeply influenced by the likes of John Prine, Jeff Tweedy, and Sturgill Simpson, pens lyrics that explore the quaintness of small-town life, the depths of the human condition, and heady existential themes.

Holding down the rhythm is Brent Sandel, a seasoned bassist with a rich history in Sailing to Denver, an acclaimed Americana/Roots-Rock band from Atlanta. Sandel’s experience shines through in his intricate bass lines that are both foundational and inventive, perfectly complementing the band’s dynamic range.

The strings sing under the masterful touch of Andrew Morrison on guitar and steel. Morrison’s prowess is undeniable, adding a layer of profound skill that elevates the band’s sound to new heights. Morrison has honed his skills in a number of Atlanta based projects throughout the years, including The Cameltones, The DustUp, High River Band and Frosted Orange.

Behind the drums is Ian Strickland, a funk-infused rhythm wizard whose tight, pocket drumming is the heartbeat of Shakerag. Also a former member of The Cameltones and The DustUp, Ian’s unique style adds a groove that’s irresistibly catchy and soul-stirring.

While Shakerag is a new constellation, its stars have shone brightly on stages across the South Eastern US. Their collective résumé boasts impressive feats: rocking a 3,500-strong crowd at Reinhardt University, opening for the legendary Grand Funk Railroad, taking the stage at The House Of Blues and captivating audiences at the iconic Georgia Theater.

Shakerag is more than a band; it’s a journey through the landscapes of sound and soul, inviting listeners to join them on a voyage that’s as introspective as it is exhilarating. Their music doesn’t just speak; it resonates.
